Tenuta Pietramora Vermentino Limite 2022

Tenuta Pietramora Vermentino Limite is a beautiful dry white wine of 100% Vermentino from the Maremma coast of Tuscany. Tenuta Pietramora is located in Colle Fagiano, in the commune of Scansano, in the Maremma, in southwestern coastal Tuscany. Tenuta Pietramora was established in 1999 and replanted 11 hectares of vines including 10 hectares of Sangiovese (which in the area of Scansano is called Morellino) and 1 hectare of Merlot. The estate is 300 meters above sea level and the vineyards are organic. The vineyards face the sea and rise straight up from 0 to 600 meters asl. The soils are typical for Sangiovese, called galestro - a rocky, schistous clay soil. The estate is owned by the family of Giaia Cerrito who is the winemaker plus the mother of FOUR young children!

Tenuta Pietramora Vermentino Limite was a labor of love for Giaia. After two failed vintages, in the third year, she harvested the row in two different times, exposing the side to the sun almost to over-ripening the grapes and protecting the one in the shade. The grapes, of a very different structure, are vinified in separate vats at a controlled temperature, with very soft pressing the ripe grapes, in contact with the skins longer on the others. After racking, they are together for maturation. Malolactic fermentation is not done, because the decrease in acidity removes the feeling of freshness and those floral and fruity aromas that the consumer seeks in a white wine. After the union, the wine needs at least 4 months of bottle to stabilize. The name Limite derives from the contrast searched, between the two different grapes, ripened at the limit of the late harvest one part, and at the limit of the early harvest from the other!

Tenuta Pietramora Vermentino Limite offers aromas of apples and pears, followed by citrusy notes. On the palate, the wine is well balanced, with notes of white and citrus fruits. It’s an outstanding accompaniment to appetizers, salads, scallops, lobster, and grilled fish.
