Hare & Tortoise is our newest red wine discovery from Down Under—this one from Yarra Valley in Victoria! Hare & Tortoise represents the steady pursuit of fine, individual, regional wines of great drinkability & interest through patience, knowledge and a hands-off approach to winemaking. The wine regions of the great state of Victoria are some of Australia’s most picturesque and historical. Today we can expect to see exciting wines and evocative wine styles as common fare. Yarra Valley is known as the birthplace of Victoria's wine industry – with vines dating back 170 years!

Hare & Tortoise is a single-vineyard Pinot Noir that was handpicked, de-stemmed and fully fermented in open top fermenters with a small addition of whole bunches for complexity. Then cold soaked for three days prior to a cool ferment and pressed at dryness. It was then left on its lees for five months before bottling with no sulfites added. The wine is garnet in color with dark hues and a cherry rim. Light-medium in body, it offers flavors of black cherries, strawberries, cranberries, leather, and spice. The finish is long and smooth, showing the unique charm of the Yarra Valley terroir.
