Ronin is a tribute to the drifter spirit, untethered, curious, always in motion. In 2023, we reimagined our Syrah through a carbonic lens, embracing whole-cluster fermentation to capture brightness, lift, and raw energy. Grown in the rugged soils of Riebeek West in the Swartland, this wine reflects a place known for grit, but delivered here with grace.

From the first pour, Ronin leaps from the glass with wild raspberries, candied cherries, and sun-ripe plums. The carbonic maceration draws out vivid fruit while softening tannins, giving the wine a silky, vibrant feel. Spice lifts the aromatics, light pepper, violets, and a touch of red liquorice, making it unmistakably Syrah, just in a fresher, more playful frame.

On the palate, the fruit remains the hero, but with structure beneath: fine-grained tannins, balanced acidity, and a whisper of Swartland earth from the shale and granite soils. There’s lightness, but also length. A refreshing finish keeps it clean, with just enough grip to hold its shape.

Ronin is for those who seek something different. Carbonic Syrah with Swartland soul. Light on the surface, deep in intent. A wine that moves differently, like we do.
