Touraine AOC, Loire, France
Valerie Forgues Sauvignon is a white wine gem from the Touraine sub-region of the Loire Valley of France. Valérie is a small grower in the Cher Valley of the Touraine. Her knowledge, skills, experience and confidence have evolved beautifully, as have her wines as a result, over the last decade+. Like Valérie, they are down to earth--unpolished, pure, exuberant, expressive--with a soupçon of quirky charm and intensity. Coming from a career in international business, in 2008 Valérie gradually converted herself into a vigneronne and her vines into an organically farmed oasis of true biodiversity.
Valerie Forgues Sauvignon is Sauvignon Blanc with 10% Sauvignon Rose & Sauvignon Gris rounding it out. Direct press; spontaneous fermentation; malo; tank aging; no filtration. Medium in body, it is pure and complex with great minerality and freshness framed with citrus and stone. It is clean and refreshing with good length on the finish.
Enjoy Valerie Forgues Sauvignon over the next 3-4 years with grilled salmon, fried oysters, sushi, chicken salad and goat cheese.
