Russian River Valley, California
Vinous 94 points!
Walter Hansel Chardonnay The Meadows Vineyard is a beautiful example of Russian River Valley Chardonnay. Walter Hansel was a lifelong wine enthusiast who had the vision to plant his estate's original 250 vines in 1978. Today, Stephen, Walter's son, has taken up where his father left off, pursuing his vision of producing world-class Burgundian-styled Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, all from the Russian River Valley.
"The 2019 Chardonnay The Meadows is creamy and ample in the glass, but shows the fresh, vibrant style that defines the vintage at Hansel. Lemon confit, spice, dried flowers and chamomile all take shape in the glass. Dry-farmed Chardonnay, all Hanzell clone, on the lowest-lying blocks of the property, yielded a Chardonnay with thick skins and notable intensity."--Vinous, 94 points!
Enjoy Walter Hansel Chardonnay The Meadows over the next 4-5 years with roast chicken, grilled swordfish, ratatouille and cheeses.
