Description
Sonoma Valley, California
Whitehall Lane Rassi Cabernet Sauvignon is beautiful single-vineyard Cabernet from Sonoma Valley. The Rassi Vineyard is located in a gravel stratum on the eastern slope of Sonoma Valley at the base of the Mayacamas Mountain range. This hillside location has excellent afternoon sun exposure throughout the long, warm summer and is ideally suited for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes from this meticulously farmed vineyard have been used in a countless acclaimed wines over the years. The property was originally part of the 1,864 acre Rancho Aqua Caliente land grant of General Vallejo. In the 1940’s this 16-acre parcel became part of the family ranch for the Claude and Evelyn Duncan family. Their grandson Dennis Rassi tended to the Duncan-Rassi Vineyard before selling it in 2012 to the Leonardini Family of Whitehall Lane Winery.
This beautifully blended 2018 Rassi Cabernet Sauvignon is exquisitely balanced with excellent fruit concentration. On the nose, this wine offers bing cherries, cassis, dried cranberries, black cherry cola, mixed berry jam, and a touch of brioche. The palate offers plush but delicate tannins, sweet black plums, strawberry rhubarb pie, red raspberry coulis, toasted bread, and cocoa dust that lingers on the finish. This offering is enjoyable today but will also evolve with cellar aging through 2030.
Enjoy Whitehall Lane Rassi Cab over the next 8-10 years with filet mignon, beef brisket, rich vegetarian dishes and aged cheeses.
